Kids accounts

It’s never too early to start saving, investing, budgeting, and learning about financial products and services. We believe in developing smart money habits from an early age, which is why we offer free checking accounts for kids. Children under the age of 18 may need a parent or guardian as a joint account holder for checking accounts; however, they do not need a parent or guardian as a joint account holder for savings accounts.

Student checking accounts

Our Student Advantage checking account is designed to meet the financial needs of young adults under the age of 21. With this account, young adults under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian listed as a joint owner. For those over the age of 18, they may have an account in their name only. All members with the Student Advantage checking account enjoy no monthly service fee and a ¼% discount on loans.

Another way we support financial literacy and awareness is through our school branch initiatives. We were the first credit union in the Richmond area to open branches in area schools.

Currently we operate four branches at the following schools: Deep Run High School, Hermitage High School, Henrico High School, and Holman Middle School. Although these branches are not open to the public, they operate like our large public branches and they are completely run by students who are supervised by our Financial Education Manager.
