About Us

Our Mission

Our core principle is to build relationships with our members while providing the highest level of financial service possible. We believe in the traditional credit union philosophy of “People Helping People.” This is a community organization, member-owned, and locally operated.

Credit unions aren’t banks although we do offer many of the same services. Instead, we hold ourselves to a higher standard. We are not-for-profit, local, and community driven. When you join you become a member not a customer. As a member, you become an owner of the co-op. Collaboration is the key to our success, and we have a long history of delivering on that promise.

Our Story

We were originally chartered in 1967 to serve the employees of Henrico County, Virginia. Our first branch was located at 21st and Main Street in the basement of the county administration building. As our asset size grew, the scope of our services also expanded.

In the 1980s and 1990s, we underwent significant growth and development. We opened several new branches, expanded services, and launched self-service banking options.

In 2002, we became the first community-chartered credit union in the Richmond area. Today, we serve anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in 21 cities and counties throughout the greater Richmond area.

Even with our expansion and growth over the decades, our core focus remains on investing in our surrounding communities and working as a financial partner for our over 30,000 members. As we continue to thrive, we can better serve our members and our community.

Our Team

We take pride in our core values. We have assembled the most knowledgeable, committed, and hard-working people in Virginia to be a part of our team. Whatever you need in your financial journey, we are up to the task, and can promise to professionally handle all your credit union needs.
